Excursions in Beijing:

Day 1:  First KP and I arrived at 11:30PM on Friday night and proceeded to take an hour taxi ride to Beida.  The ride was horrendous because it was long, I was tired and did I mention I had been a moving vehicle for, o I don't know, 26 hours?  After the ride, we came to our dorm with 4 luggage bags..only to find out there is no such thing as an elevator in the dorms and we lived on the 5th floor.  We had to lug everything up the stairs.  Luckily for me, this random guy walked by and carried it up the stairs for me.  I only went up one floor with the suitcase.  As we intended to unpack and shower..we found out..no such thing as hot water either (it turns out they turn off the water at midnight and the lights at 1:00).  We took cold showers and went to bed quickly as for the next day, we had orientation. 

Day 2:  As jetlag would have it, we did not sleep passed 6:00AM.  After a while, we met our other roommate, Julie.  She's nice and she speaks Mandarin.  We went to a meeting, met the other program students and learned of what we had to do.  It was all good.
